In the summertime when the weather is fine…we don’t all agree with humidity, that’s what! Why? Because it messes with our skin and can quickly turn a flawless finish into a messy disaster. During the winter months, we wished we had that shine that now reigns supreme on our foreheads, but just because the temp is rising outside doesn’t mean you have to sweat it (not literally of course because there will be more than enough of that). Here are seven of the best skincare humidity hacks for summer to keep your skin looking hydrated, clear, and shine-free.

1. Drink Up!

If you want to have beautiful skin, you’ll need to get to grips with the idea that it all starts on the inside. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is one of the best ways to keep your skin looking plump and healthy during the harsh summer months. You should also ensure that you’re consuming a lot of foods that have high water contents such as cucumber and watermelon. Feel like your skin is looking way too dehydrated? Why not try misting your face with some thermal spring water? It can help you achieve that plumped up look you’re after!

2. Cleanse to Control

During the hot, humid months of summer, it becomes critical to properly cleanse your skin if you want to keep breakouts and oil at bay. Try using a facial brush along with your favorite facial cleanser to help get rid of that excess oil and build-up that might clog your pores.

3. Call on the Cold Water

After you’ve cleansed your face - just before you slap on some SPF moisturizing lotion - it’s important to give your face a rinse with some cold water. By using cold water, you’ll be getting some welcome relief from the scorching temperatures outside, and you’ll also help tighten and reduce the appearance of pores, which can be a major pain in the neck in summer.

4. Find a Feathery Formulation

Rich, thick, and creamy foundations are great…for winter months, but during the summer months you need a formulation that’s much lighter. Lighter formulations won’t feel as heavy on your face during the summer months and will also be much easier to wash off once you’re ready to hit the beach.

5. Mist if You Must

Facial mists should become kind of like your bestie during the summer months when humidity attacks are lurking around every corner. Make sure you’re carrying some facial mist in your tote, leave a bottle of the stuff at your desk, and keep one in the fridge, which provides an amazing burst of cool when you need it most.

6. Get with some Gel

Instead of using creamy moisturizers in the summertime, try using a gel moisturizer instead. Because it's warmer outside, you don’t need all that heaviness and deeply moisturizing properties that most cream formulations promise, but if you like a greasy, weighed down look, by all means, keep up the good work.

7. Banish Powder Blush and Regular Eyeliner

Powder blushes are known to wear off real quick, so if you know you’re going to be swimming, using a powder blush is an utter waste of your time. The same goes for regular eyeliner. Cream blush lasts much longer than their powder counterparts, and when it comes to waterproof eyeliner, we’ll just leave you with the idea that you won’t end up looking like a panda if you choose to use a proper, waterproof liner.

With the onset of summer, it’s always a good idea to switch up your beauty routine and start making a few changes to suit the season. We hope this post has provided you with the information you’ll need to make it through the summer without ever looking like a sad craisin!
